Why Buy A House of Wax (Widescreen Edition) starring Chad Michael Murray, Paris Hilton, Elisha Cuthbert, Brian Van Holt, Jared Padalecki?
You know the one about the group of horny kids who get offed one by one? Yeah, so do director Jaume Collet-Serra and his screenwriters, who have updated an old Vincent Price flick and sandwiched it between hearty slices of The Blair Witch Project and various Friday the 13th films. Lots of WB and Fox network hotties–including 24s Elisha Cuthbert, One Tree Hills Chad Michael Murray, and, well, Paris Hilton–have car trouble and stumble onto a town populated by real killer personalities. The R-rated result is fairly gruesome and, though no one ever quite looks frightened enough, Collet-Serra knows his way around a jolting suspense sequence or two. Cuthbert and an unintentionally funny Murray (striking ludicrous poses as some kind of real toughie) act more like angry ex-lovers than the fraternal twins theyre supposed to be; Hilton acts bored while her real-life video scandal is exploited for ironic kicks; and the film heads shamelessly over-the-top with each new twist. As an exercise in bloody mayhem, it has a few novel touches, but you can easily find better scares. –Steve Wiecking

Good service
Very pleased with the seller and product. I would buy other products from this seller.

Excellent Service
Disk was brand new, I received it within three days. Very fast and I would do business with them again.

Impressive
I’ve noticed a new trend in the newest horror movies lately where things seem to have gone back to nothing gorey happening until half way through the movie, like they did 20 or 30 years ago. It is like this in House of Wax. I’m not sure whether I like this new development or not but it works with House of Wax.

It starts off with a theme that many other horrors movies have used; a group of teenaged friends have car trouble in the middle of nowhere, half of the friends stay at the car and the other half go to a nearby “deserted” town in search of help.

This is a slasher movie that kills the charactors in origional ways, sometimes involving wax and I was impressed with how gorey this movie was for a fifteen.

Impressive slasher movie with plenty of gore and a good ending. And, come on, who doesnt love it when Paris Hilton gets killed? :P .

House of Wax Blu-Ray
I really enjoyed this movie, kind of a guilty pleasure. The story is decent, the suspense is good, the acting is pretty good considering Paris Hilton is in it. It’s not the scariest movie you have ever seen but its a very well made horror flick. I was very pleased to see that the transition from DVD to Blu-Ray went well. The movie looks great in High Def.

Why Buy A Welcome to the Great Mysterious (Ballantine Readers Circle) by Lorna Landvik?
Megastar of stage, screen, and television, Geneva Jordan now has a command performance in Minnesota, where she agrees to look after her thirteen-year-old nephew, a boy with Down syndrome, while his parents take a long overdue vacation. Though Geneva and her sister, Ann, are as different as night and day (I being night, of course, dark and dramatic), Geneva remembers she had a family before she had a star on her door. But so accustomed is she to playing the lead, finding herself a supporting actress in someone elses life is strange and unexplored territory. Then the discovery of an old scrapbook that she and her sister created long ago starts her thinking of things beyond fame. For The Great Mysterious is a collection of thoughts and feelings dedicated to answering lifes big questions?far outside the spotlights glow. . . .

Another Great Book by Landvik-Love Her Writing! A+++!
I enjoyed yet another book by Lorna Landvik. This one was all about two sisters that were fraternal twins. Ann was the one who was always in her sister Geneva’s shadow, as Geneva turned out to be the BIG STAR on broadway. Poor Ann, married, had a son with down-syndrome. When she and her husband needed a break for a vacation to Italy for a month, she asks Geneva to babysit with Rich. Of course, reluctantly Geneva agrees, and sets out from New York to Minnesota to watch over Rich while they’re gone. It was a welcome change in a sense that Geneva had just been dumped yet again by her star boyfriend Trevor, also a big actor.

Of course, Rich took right to his Aunt Gennie very nicely. But Geneva, not being used to kids at all, especially special needs kids like Rich, it was very difficult at first until she learned his ways. Geneva becomes friends with Barbara, the next door neighbor who helps with Rich, as she has a disabled son, Conrad, herself. He has cerebal palsy and is a fragile kid. He and Rich have been the best of friends for years.

Geneva also meets James, the mailman, but also Barb’s friend and he is divorced. He and Geneva strike it off right away, and seemingly fall in love. But Trevor, still wants Geneva back, and she isn’t sure in this part of the book. The conclusion on this segment becomes clear at the ending.

The Great Mysterious though, was entitled that way because of the fact that Geneva and Ann made up a scrapbook many years, named that. It was named that because it had questions and answers to life’s biggest questions, and was quite a unique record over the years as the kids in their family added to it, and adults tried to provide the answers. I thought this was a great part of the book, and it tied the story together when it came to life, love, and the pursuit of happiness.

Compelling
I became totally absorbed in the plot and characters of this book and finished it in one day. A beautifully written story.

Hard to put down, Love the epilogue!
This is my second Lorna Landvik book, and once again I was very pleased.
I feel it is a waste to repeat story lines/plots that you can find in most reviews, so I will just say that this book is hard to put down. I ended up reading it in one day!
One of the things I like most about this book (and the other Landvik book I have read so far), is that when you are finished with the book you feel satisfied. This is in part due to great story content, but I also love the fact that the author included an epilogue. No matter how much I like a book, and no matter what the ending is, I usually wonder about what happens next for these fictional characters. The epilogue scratches that itch, while leaving room for sequels should the author ever decide to go in that direction. I look forward to reading more from Landvik!
