On the Right Track by The Skatalites

Why Buy A On the Right Track by The Skatalites?
Without the killer grooves and syncopated horn blasts of the always wonderful Skatalites, life on this planet would be a far duller thing. — L.A. Daily News The Skatalites are Jamaicas answer to the Motown house band and Booker T. & The MGs combined. — Rolling Stone The Skatalites took influences from jazz, calypso and US rhythm `n blues to help create the sound that dominated Jamaican sixties music … This is a must have album for anyone interested in Jamaican music and a great introduction for those who wish to learn. — BBC.co.uk More than a band, The Skatalites were and are an institution, an aggregation of top-notch musicians who didnt merely define the sound of Jamaica, they were the sound of Jamaica across the 50s and 60s. — All Music Guide The second wave of ska produced some good bands and some great music, the third wave fewer, but if you want to really hear the music played with respect for its deepest roots, you need to go to the source, and that is undoubtedly The Skatalites … The band is more musically sophisticated than many of its contemporaries were and than pretty much all of its present day imitators are. — PopMatters

Recorded in Byron Bay in 2006, On the Right Track mixes the coastal island vibes of Australias and Jamaicas hippest towns with a heavy jazz influence. Among a myriad of reissues and compilations, this album stands out as having the best new original material on an international Skatalites release since 1964. Studio sessions were held in the style of a classic jazz session, much like the one-take upbringing Studio 1 provided the group in the early days. From the late 50s into the 60s, The Skatalites transcended popular music, introducing and defining Jamaican music and culture to the world. Combining the best of American boogie-woogie with R&B, jazz, and big band swing, The Skatalites created the up-tempo syncopated island beat dubbed ska, which evolved into rocksteady and reggae. The original backing band for Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, and Toots & The Maytals, these two-time Grammy nominees have toured extensively worldwide since the 80s.

Great introduction to The Skatalites
This is the first Skatalites album I bought, and I think it’s a great way to get into their sound. Now that I know a little more about these amazing musicians, and after hearing most of their classic 60′s records, I find this album their best since their reformation, in the 80′s.
I agree with the last review, these songs are really true to their ska roots, plus you won’t get the poor sound quality of the 60′s recordings. It’s well recorded, now you can in fact hear the bass lines and the terrific job by Lloyd Knibb on the drums. This senior citizen never got the recognition he deserves for inventing the SKA beat, which is the same beat as the reggae beat, the reggae drummers just slowed it down. I was lucky enough to see him play 2 weeks ago, with the reformed Skatalites.
The tracks sung by Doreen Shaffer are the icing on the cake.

Where To Buy Emotional Technology by BT At The Lowest Price?

Emotional Technology by BT

Why Buy A Emotional Technology by BT?
Aussie edition of the electronica/dance stars 2003 album features exclusive artwork. 13 tracks including Simply Being Loved (Somnambulist). Festival/Mushroom Records.

I found out about BT from a guy I work with. He said that BT was really a Techno artist, so that was pretty much what I was expecting. Wow, was that ever wrong. The songs have everything from techno to ballads to Gospel, with amazing chords, funky bass lines, and pillow-smooth multi-part harmonies. This is now my favorite CD…finally, I have found something to replace Seal’s “System”.

Standouts on “Emotional Technology” include “Dark Heart Dawning” (Track 6) and “The Only Constant is Change” (Track 13). It is worth buying the CD for these 2 alone. For best results, play on a premium sound system with extra bass and a drink in hand, and experience what great music really is. Don’t miss the boat on this one…get it now.

What a Ride!
Emotional Technology picks up right where Movement In Still Life (European-Yellow Cover-1999) leaves off. He starts this album with the same sounds he used to end his last one, signifying that BT is back, and it’s the same BT you’ve always known- only with a more vocal approach.
I love the way that he can go from genre to genre in from one song to another. From the rap/breakbeat ‘Knowledge of Self’ to the electronic pop-sounding song ‘Superfabulous,’ to the pure-bread electronica track ‘Somnambulist,’ to the slowed down, heartfelt ‘The Force of Gravity,’ to the soul of ‘Dark Heart Dawning,’ you can tell that you’re listening to true talent at work.
The album begins to slow down in the middle of ‘The Force of Gravity’ (yes, in the song) but by no means is that a bad thing. ‘Dark Heart Dawning,’ ‘The Great Escape,’ and ‘PARIS’ are astounding songs, just with a slower tempo. Then it comes in with one of my favorite BT songs, ‘Circles,’ slows down a bit with ‘The Last Moment of Clarity,’ goes acoustic/electric with ‘Animals,’ and ends with another heartfelt song, ‘The Only Constant Is Change.”
As you can clearly see, this album is a rollercoaster of emotions, ideas, and music styles. If you’re a new BT listener, you MUST hear this because you will not be dissappointed. If you’re a long time BT fan, what have you been waiting for? Buy this CD now!

BT-Emotional Technology – Special Collectors Edition
Well, that old saying “You get what you pay for…” certainly holds true with this CD – BT Emotional Technology Special Collectors Edition! What a fantastic CD if you are a BT fan (and quite possibly if you aren’t!) I had previously purchased the regular BT copy of this same CD and it contained 1 CD AND different tracks (two of which I didn’t care for – “Animals” and “Blue…..” (something with Tori Amos, I also didn’t care for). This CD has two different tracks on it – “Kimosabe”, and “The Revolution” that are just not only AWESOME tracks, but a continuation of the whole theme of this CD. But the CD ALSO contains a bonus second CD disc with remixes of some more popular tracks like “Force of Gravity”, “Somnambulist”, “Superfabulous” and others…This is just a really good mix of music from BT that has both some more mellow tracks of his, as well as his traditional style music that is heard on movie soundtracks and the TV series CSI and such. It’s a great CD to pop in the CD changer in the car and really crank up if you have one of those really boring communtes to and from work – or just a long monotonous drive somewhere. It will ABSOLUTELY make your drive much more pleasant! For BT fans – a “must have”, and I would spend the extra money on this “special edition” copy (but buy it used if you can) and nix the regular edition (unless you really like Tori Amos’ voice)….

this man is amazing and his music is amazing. i give 5 stars+ to all his music. hes not your average dj. he sings, produces and makes his own laptop symphonies. his shows usually are laptop symphonies. he is my favorite artist of all time and if you cant hear the love and passion he has for music than you have no taste. i have met him a few times at starbucks where i work. very nice guy. i have never seen such an all around awesome person as he is. i recommend all his music to everyone.

Get the Japanese Import
So BT’s rereleased this album and changed the tracklist somewhat… notably, adding “Kimosabe” and “The Revolution”, both incredibly strong tracks that were, until the rerelease, homeless.

The issue is that BT’s cut some killer tracks as well… “Circles” is one of my favorite tracks from the record and it’s been axed to make way for Kimosabe. Not that Kimosabe isn’t a great song, but I don’t think BT was wise to play fast and loose with the content of what always was a spectacular album.

If you’re a true blue BT fan I recommend trying to find a copy of the Japanese import of the record… it contains the ORIGINAL tracklist, plus “Kimosabe”, “The Revolution”, and “Love in the Time of Theives”… the three new tracks that appear on this disc. It also has “Tao of the Machine”, a track BT did with the Roots which is pretty bangin’. The Japanese import even has MOST of the track remixes that the 2007 reissue of the disc has.

So, long story short, if you’re gonna go all out and get a two-disc version of this record, spend the little extra and dig up a Japanese copy of the record; you shant be disappointed

Warner Brothers Little Creatures by Talking Heads – Save 13% Today!

Little Creatures by Talking Heads

Why Buy A Little Creatures by Talking Heads?
Having spent the early 80s in a giddy expansion of the sound and scale of their studio recordings and concerts, Talking Heads come full circle with this 1985 album, retracting to the core quartet and restoring a focus on David Byrnes knotty songs. Arriving in the wake of the fevered rhythms of Speaking in Tongues and Stop Making Sense, Little Creaturess new material sounds freshly lyrical, remarkably concise, even subdued, but theres the usual whimsy–the levitating heroine of the jangling, punchy opener, And She Was, the cracked child-rearing advice of Stay Up Late, and the galloping, anthemic reminder that were on the Road to Nowhere. –Sam Sutherland

I’m back in High School!
I grew up with these timeless performers. It takes me back to happy times as a teen.

Good for picking up a party or driving
The Talking Heads have put out some great music in the 1980′s up to the mid 90′s but I think this album was when they reached a creative pinnacle in their melodic style. David Byrne has the kind of creative mind which produces lyrics and music in a unique way. Because their music was always considered obscure, even within their category, they tended to attract a sub mainstream audience. “Speaking in Tounges” was their first record to get noticed but even so, it was considered eclectic. Then “Stop Making Sense” (the movie) came out and mainstream was going to see it and buying Talking Heads recordings, followed by the soundtrack for “True Stories.”

What I like about it is that it’s uplifting, fun, and energetic. The music makes you want to get up and dance. The words are sometimes weird, funny, and strong statements about our society. I’ve also put in some great driving time in our old Saab, listening to this CD. When it ends, you find the last hour seemed to go by quickly and you’re almost there!

If You Could Only Keep Me Alive by The Dangerous Summer

Why Buy A If You Could Only Keep Me Alive by The Dangerous Summer?
Recent high school graduates The Dangerous Summer gained quite a buzz with the help of Baltimore hometown friends All Time Low and a devoted online fanbase after self-releasing the EP There Is No Such Thing As Science, in January of 2007. After attracting the attention of indie label Hopeless Records, The Dangerous Summer hit the studio with Paul Leavitt (Dashboard Confessional, Senses Fail, All Time Low) to work on what would become their Hopeless debut EP If You Could Only Keep Me Alive.

The Dangerous Summer is dangerously addicive
I highly recommend this CD, I bought it knowing nothing of the band but now I’m in love! Definitely a CD where every song is good, full of great music and vocals, it’s been in my CD player since I bought it over almost a month ago!

Give this CD a listen. You’ll love it. This new band from Ellicott City, MD is bursting on to the national alt rock music scene. They’re excellent musicians and they’re even better live.

What a great guy! Wayman Tisdale was an awesome person and musician! May his memory be eternal!

Excellent CD
Excellent performer which has nothing to do with the quality of service that was provided for my order. Also the CD was delivered within a few days. Excellent condition. I will purchase from you again anytime.

This is my first Waymon Tisdale CD, my son had bought this for me, alas my last for he died two weeks after I received it. He is awesome and I will be looking for more of his CD’s. My favorite is Rebound

Rebound is where Jazz meets Victory. A very inspiring cd with more substance than it’s given credit for. This was a cd where tenacity and endurance was the focus. As always, a great Wayman Tisdale cd!
