lord of the rings: fellowship of the ring
This is the first of the three books in the series The Lord of the Rings. In the beginning, a hobbit called Bilbo Baggins celebrates 111th birthday. He then disappears to go live with the Elves in a place called Rivendell, and leaves everything to his nephew, Frodo Baggins, including a mysterious and magical ring that he found long time ago. Frodo is advised by Gandalf to go to Rivendell, and to take the ring, and to never wear it. Gandalf fears that it might be the Ring of Power (the ring that belongs to the evil lord Sauron), so he goes to Rivendell where a council is met. Frodo agrees to take the ring to Mount Doom with the help of others this group form the Fellowship. As they go, they meet various encounters, and in the end of the book, Sauron’s army fights the group and steals some of the Hobbits.
I chose to read this book because I heard it was very popular. Also, I heard that the book was a fantasy book tied in with magic, battles, and a great quest. I liked reading it and I knew what was happening because I read the book The Hobbit. Then I decided to read the prologue. I also liked to read the book because it was full of adventure and danger.
My favorite part was when Gandalf faced off the monster in the shadow of the mines of Moria. It started when the Fellowship began to make their way to Isengard. Gandalf decided to lead the group into a climb through the mountains. They noticed a large group of crows flying their way. Figuring that it was some of Sauron’s spies, they tried to go through the ice caps of other mountains. Then Saruman the wizard tried to stop them. So they had no choice but to go through the mines of Moria where a monster lives. This is a fire-demon monster that lives. Gandalf tried to fight the monster but Gandalf and the monster fell and the Fellowship thought Gandalf died.

Lord of the Rings:
The Fellowship of the Ring
By J.R.R. Tolkien

The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring is an action packed magical thriller. It keeps you on edge with every flip of the page.
The book begins with the old Bilbo Baggins planning for his one hundredth and eleventh birthday. Half the Shire’s been invited! It looks as though it’ll be a night to remember. When Bilbo vanishes during his birthday speech, he leaves the crowd in awe. Seeing as how he is now leaving, for another adventure, and shan’t be returning, he leaves his precious Bag End and all his possessions behind. His heir and second cousin one-removed, Frodo Baggins now has to carry the responsibility of taking the One Ring to Mordor to be destroyed.
To get to Mordor, Frodo must leave his beloved Shire and travel through Old forests, empty plains, and rocky mountains. He soon reaches Rivendale, with the help of a strange Rider, Aragorn, and an elf named Arwin. From there, Frodo and his three faithful companions, Merry, Pippin, and Sam become part of the Fellowship of the Ring.

I found this book to be delightful at all hours of the day for all ages! I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a great adventure with out even leaving your couch!

A must have for less than serious gamers!
I haven’t played many games of this type, but I’m a huge Tolkien fan so I decided to try the game. I have to be honest-I couldn’t even get out of the Shire ( the first level) until I bought this guide! I ended up using it religiously along the way, because there were many sections where I wouldn’t have had any idea what I was supposed to do otherwise. For instance, there’s a section in Moria where, without the guide, I would *never* have figured out where I was supposed to go, even though I religiously explore every nook and cranny when playing these types of games.

Once I bought the guide, it took me about a week to finish the game. Since then, I’ve decided to play it again, without referring to the guide, to see if I can make it all the way through by memory.

The book is very comprehensive, and avoids using terms that the casual gamer wouldn’t understand-it doesn’t talk over your head, and it’s very straight forward and easy to understand. The screen shots are helpful, so that you can see what sections of the game they’re referring to.

As a little added perk, this book, while showing you all of the ins and outs, still leaves a couple of tiny goodies out-not essential ones, just a couple little perks, so it still pays to explore as much as possible to see if you can find them. To me, that added to the fun, and I didn’t feel like the book was doing *all* of the work for me. For instance, the book doesn’t mention that, if you can find Gollum, you can get a little treat from him!

I highly recommend this game guide; in fact, I’m off to the bookstore today to pick up Prima’s game guide to another LOTR game!

Tells you everything about the game
This strategy guide tells you everything about what you can get, and all of your enemies strengths and weaknesses. I wish that i had bought it sooner, but since i had already beat the game twice before getting this, it only helped me with evil mode.

LOTR The Third Age
If you bought the LOTR The Return of the King strategy guide from Prima, the The Third Age strategy guide is nothing like the Return of the King guide. It was still useful and informative.

Why Buy A The Lord Of The Rings – The Fellowship Of The Ring [Vhs] Starring Noel Appleby, Sean Astin, Sala Baker, Sean Bean, Cate Blanchett?
As the triumphant start of a trilogy, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring leaves you begging for more. By necessity, Peter Jacksons ambitious epic compresses J.R.R. Tolkiens classic The Lord of the Rings, but this robust adaptation maintains reverent allegiance to Tolkiens creation, instantly qualifying as one of the greatest fantasy films ever made. At 178 minutes, its long enough to establish the myriad inhabitants of Middle-earth, the legendary Rings of Power, and the fellowship of hobbits, elves, dwarves, and humans–led by the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and the brave hobbit Frodo (Elijah Wood)–who must battle terrifying forces of evil on their perilous journey to destroy the One Ring in the land of Mordor. Superbly paced, the film is both epic and intimate, offering astonishing special effects and production design while emphasizing the emotional intensity of Frodos adventure. Ending on a perfect note of heroic loyalty and rich anticipation, this wondrous fantasy continues in The Two Towers (2002). –Jeff Shannon

proved a faithful adpatation and great film are possible
Jesus I just saw a Full Screen Edition. “I hate those bars!” “The picture’s too small!” Just go to the Wal-Mart, grab your Full Screen copy of Lord of the Rings, grab a 12 pack of Bud and some nachos and put it on the new flat screen you got mounted on the wall next to the rubber Big Mouth Billy Bass that sings “Take Me To the River” by Al Green.

(This “review” is more a comment on film adaptations. Last paragraph I give praise)
I was disappointed last night with a movie. I saw the 6th installment in the Harry Potter series. It reminded me of the LOTR, for obvious reasons. First, it has wizards, magic, etc. And secondly both film series are adaptations of famous fantasy books. However, in the case of LOTR, something truly ‘magical’ and mysterious happened — they somehow managed to do faithful adaptations and the movies didn’t suck! _It can be done and Lord of the Rings proved it._ This is what stands out to me. Now I love some films that were simply based or inspired by a book- Kubrick’s “The Shining” and Spielberg’s “War of the Worlds” come to mind. So I’m cool with not being faithful to books -in some cases- but I’m cool with it because those movies are fantastic. Nothing is worse then a movie that A) isn’t a good, faithful adaptation (so lets down fans of the book) and B) isn’t an entertaining, well crafted film.

I enjoyed each movie, but I guess Fellowship is my favorite. I like the beginning of the quest and being introduced for the first time to the characters and world they inhabit. Goes without saying the film was perfectly cast, the special effects with generous use of models are excellent -an absolute favorite of mine are the dwarf caves-, the soundtrack is just right. As for the wizards, special mention must be made to Sir Christopher Lee and Sir Ian McKellen (Hell why not mention their titles).

Lord of the Rings-Fellowship
This is a movie I truly enjoy, because I never get tired of watching it! What I like most about it is the concept of a small band of men willing to challenge the evil that presents them! And the characters seem like they could be your noblemen, along side of you in the mist of battle! Truly Epic!!!

It’s Tolkien, but … This movie is good in the way Peter I guess didn’t have all the time for the movie.
I love this movie, I love the book and the series even more. Peter Jackson did an excelent job of creating this series and this opening movie. I did miss a lot of the details in which the director, Peter Jackson, I guess just couldn’t find time to put into the movie. I see that the main idea of the plot is followed correctly and some stunning visual effects are used, including pieces in the movie that you don’t find out in the book without extensive reading and study… That said I miss the first time the character Sam meets elves (on their way from Hobbiton to Buckland) and I also would have loved to see the feature in the book of Tom Bombadil and the Old Forest with moving trees and the great giant old tree which tries to crush Merry and Pippin in that area. The Barrow Downs and the Barrow Wights animation was sorely missed also… but the general overall theme of the movie hed together very well, and it lead perfectly into the rest of the trilogy in which if Peter would have included all the details of the book, would have put all of the audience asleep.

Still the book is better, but takes patience, and the movie is fun in seeing the visuals of the characters.

Tolkein on Steroids — Excellent Adaptation of a Classic!
I’ve loved Lord of the Rings since first breaking the binding of Tolkein’s masterpiece trilogy many years ago. Do get the book set by the way, it’s clearly epic: The Lord of the Rings: 50th Anniversary, One Vol. Edition…

Frodo Baggins adores his uncle and is one of the few hobbits that has that wanderlust adventure. Why hang out in The Shire when you can fight dragons and cavort with elves and dwarves?

But he gets more than he bargains for. Frodo’s uncle Bilbo (in The Hobbit, a soon to be made prequel) found the Ring of Power. We’re quickly escorted through the mythology of how the rings were made, what they’re about, and how it snared men and Gollum to now want its return to Sauron of Mordor.

I know that Tolkein had a way with words in these books. They were almost like a Victorian adventure that you happened to run into various things and peoples on your way to some goal. Peter Jackson cut out the poetry and a few ghosts and trolls, notably Tom Bombadill, and created a rich fabric of special effects, characterization, friendship and loyalty. And that friendship comes at a cost that will keep you riveted to the screen.

Nice widescreen version here The Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring (Widescreen Edition) and you can spend hours mulling over Jackson’s “making of” , interviews with the stars and Enya’s Make It Be music video. Dolby Digital EX 5.1 Surround Sound and the winner of four Academy Awards for that year.

Cannot miss this!

Great Game
This game is very good overall. The attack system is simple attack and defend, but there are about 50 buyable moves with each character. All the levels, about 10 are really challenging. Also, there is co-op which doubles the fun. The graphics are great and the controls are easy. The gameplay is fun. The cutscenses and game music are also great. You should buy this game

Great Game!!
