Why Buy A On the Right Track by The Skatalites?
Without the killer grooves and syncopated horn blasts of the always wonderful Skatalites, life on this planet would be a far duller thing. — L.A. Daily News The Skatalites are Jamaicas answer to the Motown house band and Booker T. & The MGs combined. — Rolling Stone The Skatalites took influences from jazz, calypso and US rhythm `n blues to help create the sound that dominated Jamaican sixties music … This is a must have album for anyone interested in Jamaican music and a great introduction for those who wish to learn. — BBC.co.uk More than a band, The Skatalites were and are an institution, an aggregation of top-notch musicians who didnt merely define the sound of Jamaica, they were the sound of Jamaica across the 50s and 60s. — All Music Guide The second wave of ska produced some good bands and some great music, the third wave fewer, but if you want to really hear the music played with respect for its deepest roots, you need to go to the source, and that is undoubtedly The Skatalites … The band is more musically sophisticated than many of its contemporaries were and than pretty much all of its present day imitators are. — PopMatters

Recorded in Byron Bay in 2006, On the Right Track mixes the coastal island vibes of Australias and Jamaicas hippest towns with a heavy jazz influence. Among a myriad of reissues and compilations, this album stands out as having the best new original material on an international Skatalites release since 1964. Studio sessions were held in the style of a classic jazz session, much like the one-take upbringing Studio 1 provided the group in the early days. From the late 50s into the 60s, The Skatalites transcended popular music, introducing and defining Jamaican music and culture to the world. Combining the best of American boogie-woogie with R&B, jazz, and big band swing, The Skatalites created the up-tempo syncopated island beat dubbed ska, which evolved into rocksteady and reggae. The original backing band for Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, and Toots & The Maytals, these two-time Grammy nominees have toured extensively worldwide since the 80s.

Great introduction to The Skatalites
This is the first Skatalites album I bought, and I think it’s a great way to get into their sound. Now that I know a little more about these amazing musicians, and after hearing most of their classic 60′s records, I find this album their best since their reformation, in the 80′s.
I agree with the last review, these songs are really true to their ska roots, plus you won’t get the poor sound quality of the 60′s recordings. It’s well recorded, now you can in fact hear the bass lines and the terrific job by Lloyd Knibb on the drums. This senior citizen never got the recognition he deserves for inventing the SKA beat, which is the same beat as the reggae beat, the reggae drummers just slowed it down. I was lucky enough to see him play 2 weeks ago, with the reformed Skatalites.
The tracks sung by Doreen Shaffer are the icing on the cake.

GNV FLA. Mark that as your destination to be one with Less Than Jake, an American ska punk band from Gainesville, Florida. Originally formed in 1992 as a power pop trio, the band evolved into a hybrid of third-wave ska and punk pop, with added elements of modern rock and even metal. GNV FLA is the seventh full-length studio album from Less Than Jake. The albums title is an abbreviation of the bands hometown, Gainesville, Florida.

The most recent, and best LTJ album
Listening to this album next to Pezcore, it sounds like two totally different bands, but that’s not a bad thing. There’s a reason why Less Than Jake put out another album. It’s because they have finally found the perfect mix of ska and punk for a great album. None of the songs have that head-bang, sugar-high, beat someone up in a the pit feel anymore. Each member seems to have come to terms with their instruments perfectly, and all of the flaws in the past albums are gone leaving one flawless and entertaining album.

Although Anthem still remains my favorite album because of all of the history behind it, this album is a classic in the works. With LTJ still on tour playing these song and selling this album, GNV FLA might be the finale of their music careers, but after this album we feel like we have found a brand new great punk ska band. Grab and album and pay tribute to the band who has rocked us for the past 16 years, and will continue to rock us with this new album.

Still Shocked
I love this album. I bought it on the release date and have listened to it countless times since then. I have been a die hard LTJ fan for close to ten years, and I was disappointed by their last two albums. (I’m 21 thats a long time btw haha) Well this album definitely returns them to greatness.

The ska is back, and so is the HIGH energy pop-punk. This album contains some of the best horns ever on a Less Than Jake album. I mean check out Lion City the horns, along with the entire song, are just amazing. I also think Vinnie’s lyrics on this album are the deepest and most intelligent ones he has written. Another reviewer said he felt the lyrics were like reading a novel, they took that as a bad thing. I highly disagree, the lyrics are deeper, more intricate, but are surely still damn catchy and sing-a-longable. Roger lays down awesome bass, as to be expected, he is one of the best out there. He also plays some sweet guitar riffs on this album as well, esp. Settling Son. (to those of you who don’t know Roger records most of the guitar tracks on the album and has done so since Pezcore)

In short a GREAT album, I personally think its their best since Losing Streak. I put it even with Hello Rockview.

Best tracks

Does Lion City Still Roar?
Handshake Meets Pokerface (lyrics really hit home on this one for me)
Then the last three tracks on the album because they blend together so well. (This One is Gonna Leave a Bruise,Life of party has just left the building, and Devil in my DNA)

Weaker Tracks (none are bad just a little weaker)

Conviction Notice
Malachi Richter’s Liquor’ Quicker

The Fourth Wave

What will the future hold for business? The Fourth Wave attempts to answer this question by looking far out to the horizon of knowable things. Expanding on Toffler’s Third Wave, The Fourth Wave analyzes trends that will shape the nature of business in the 21st century. At the forefront of this trend analysis is the consideration of global consciousness, ecology, environmental integrity and economics. The book is written from an academic perspective, so it is not an easy read, but the authors must have sensed this shortcoming, because they use charts to effectively summarize the information presented in the chapters. getAbstract recommends this book to anyone who wants a fresh perspective on the role business might play in the future, and perhaps should play today. Executives, change leaders and students will find this book useful and thought provoking.
